Bellyful are a Bristol-based Neo-Trip Hop duo, blending synthesisers and other electronic elements with live vocals, guitars, and bass. My role on this project was Location Audio Engineer, as well as Mixing and Mastering Engineer during post-production. This live performance of their song Bat Country was filmed in collaboration with Soundsprout Films at Bath Spa University in April 2025.

The location for this shoot was quite a small listening room, so managing volume levels and bleed between microphones was important, especially with loud electronic track elements playing through speakers in the room to create more of a live feel. This was my first time recording upright bass. The choice of an AKG C414 provided a really natural image of the bass, while also delivering a strong low end that could compete within the electronic mix.
